- Room patients and obtain/document vital signs, weight, medication list, allergies, and pertinent medical history.
- Prepare examination rooms and patients for examinations and procedures.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed.
- Perform clinical tasks and point-of-care testing within the Medical Assistant's training, competency, scope of practice, and office protocols.
- Assist with injections, vaccinations, cultures, Pap tests, biopsies, and other office procedures as directed.
- Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, instruments, equipment, and clinical supplies.
- Review patient charts and ensure appropriate laboratory, imaging, and outside records are available for the provider.
- Enter and update patient information in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.
- Process prescription refill requests and route medication-related questions to the appropriate provider.
- Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, laboratory orders, imaging orders, and other clinical coordination.
- Communicate provider instructions and appropriate follow-up information to patients.
- Follow up on laboratory results, imaging, referrals, and other outstanding clinical items according to office protocol.
- Notify the provider promptly of abnormal findings, urgent patient concerns, or changes in patient condition.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable organizational policies.
- Follow OSHA, infection-control, blood-borne pathogen, safety, and biohazard procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical environment.
- Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and minimizing delays in the clinical area.
