Heavy Machine Operator

position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Heavy Forklift Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts to safely move, load, unload, and stage materials, equipment, and products in a warehouse, yard, or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-capacity forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, containers, and storage areas.
• Move and stage heavy materials, pallets, machinery, and other products.
• Inspect forklifts and equipment before each shift and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and operating procedures.
• Maintain accurate material movement and inventory records when required.
• Secure and properly position loads before transportation.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, drivers, supervisors, and other team members.
• Perform routine equipment checks and assist with general warehouse or yard duties as needed.
• Work safely around pedestrians, vehicles, loading docks, and other heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts in a warehouse, yard, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.
• Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience handling oversized, heavy, or irregular loads preferred.
• Ability to read and understand safety procedures and operating instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work in varying weather and industrial conditions, when applicable.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials as required by the position.

Preferred Experience

• Experience operating 10,000–36,000+ lb. forklifts or similar heavy equipment.
• Experience loading/unloading flatbeds or trailers.
• Experience working in an outdoor yard or industrial facility.
• Experience handling steel, lumber, pipe, machinery, construction materials, or other heavy products.

Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and operating equipment. The employee may be required to lift or move materials and work in outdoor or industrial environments.
