Shipyard Firewatch/Labor

Job Summary: We are seeking reliable and safety-minded Shipyard workers to support firewatch and labor duties in a shipyard environment. This role requires candidates who are comfortable working in industrial maritime settings, including small or confined spaces and elevated work areas. Candidates must have OSHA 10 Maritime and Firewatch Certification in hand at the time of application.

Responsibilities

·         Clean and maintain assigned work areas throughout the shipyard, vessels, and surrounding production areas.

·         Remove trash, debris, dust, and other materials from work areas as directed.

·         Assist with general labor duties to support shipyard operations.

·         Follow all safety procedures, site rules, and instructions from supervisors.

·         Perform firewatch duties when assigned and maintain awareness of hot work activity and surrounding hazards.

·         Use proper personal protective equipment at all times while on site.

·         Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents immediately.

Requirements

·         Must have OSHA 10 Maritime certification in hand.

·         Must have Firewatch Certification in hand.

·         Must be able to pass a background check.

·         Must be able to work in small spaces, confined areas, and tight shipboard locations.

·         Must be comfortable working at heights, including elevated platforms, ladders, stairs, and vessel areas.

·         Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions.

·         Must be able to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment.

·         Previous shipyard, industrial cleaning, firewatch, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

·         Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work for extended periods.

·         Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely.

·         Ability to work in shipboard environments, including confined or restricted spaces.

·         Ability to tolerate heights, noise, dust, heat, and changing weather conditions.

·         Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as required by the job.

Schedule and Work Environment

This position is located in a shipyard and may require work aboard vessels, on piers, in production areas, and around active industrial operations. Schedule may vary based on project needs, including possible overtime, weekends, or different shifts.
