This position supports the agency by providing essential administrative and clerical assistance every day. It plays a central role in keeping operations organized, efficient, and responsive. As an Administrative Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Clerical Leadership: Direct and oversee clerical staff while coordinating daily workload priorities
- Work Coordination: Manage distribution of assignments and monitor progress to meet operational needs
- Department Collaboration: Communicate with agency and county offices to address purchasing, personnel, and payroll matters
- Personnel Liaison: Review job postings and requisitions while serving as contact for the State Civil Service Commission
- Record Management: Maintain confidential personnel files and support accurate tracking of time and payroll changes
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a staff assistant to an administrative officer or as a technician in a staff service of a large organization; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lackawanna County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
