Job Description
Make an immediate impact supporting students’ growth and development in a collaborative school environment. Two contract opportunities are available for skilled Occupational Therapists ready to work across four schools with diverse caseloads. This position offers hands-on experience, close interaction with students, and the chance to participate in various service delivery models such as individual and small group sessions, as well as push-in support within classroom settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Active, Alabama-specific Occupational Therapy license and certification (required)
- Experience providing OT services in elementary or secondary school settings preferred
- Strong understanding of IEPs and tailoring therapy to meet individualized goals
- Excellent communication and organization skills to manage caseloads of 50-60 students
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to maximize student outcomes
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver Occupational Therapy services to students according to IEPs—frequency may be weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly, with each session lasting 30 minutes
- Employ a variety of service models: direct therapy, small group work, and push-in classroom strategies
- Support multiple sites within the district, helping students improve functional abilities for success in school activities
- Utilize assessment tools, document progress, and contribute actively to IEP meetings
- Engage with educators and families to develop practical strategies for student growth
- Working hours are 7:45 am to 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday, from ASAP through June 10
