We are looking for an experienced Identity & Access Management Analyst to support a long-term contract opportunity within the insurance industry in San Diego, California. This role focuses on strengthening identity governance, improving access controls, and advancing secure authentication practices across cloud and enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in access lifecycle management, compliance-driven security operations, and modern identity platforms while working closely with technical and business teams to protect organizational assets.
Responsibilities:
• Shape and enhance the identity and access management program by developing effective governance practices, standards, and control measures.
• Oversee user access throughout the full identity lifecycle, including new employee setup, role changes, internal transfers, and separation activities.
• Create and refine role-based access structures that align permissions with business needs and least-privilege security expectations.
• Coordinate recurring access reviews, entitlement certifications, and audit support activities to maintain regulatory and internal compliance.
• Partner with application owners, security teams, and business stakeholders to define access models and resolve complex authorization issues.
• Advance automation efforts for provisioning, deprovisioning, and access requests through APIs, scripting, and workflow-based solutions.
• Support integrations across Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and connected cloud, SaaS, and on-premises applications to improve identity services.
• Contribute to privileged access controls, authentication enhancements such as SSO and MFA, and broader Zero Trust security initiatives.
• Provide operational reporting, risk metrics, and technical guidance while mentoring team members and supporting IAM-related projects from planning through delivery.• Proven experience in identity and access management, identity governance, or a related cybersecurity discipline in a senior-level capacity.
• Hands-on knowledge of platforms such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, and other enterprise identity technologies.
• Strong understanding of role-based access control, privileged access concepts, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and Zero Trust principles.
• Experience supporting audits, access certifications, and compliance-focused security programs within regulated environments.
• Ability to automate IAM processes using scripting, APIs, workflow tools, or low-code solutions.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity practices including application security, SIEM tools, and access-related risk remediation.
• Relevant security background supported by credentials such as CompTIA Security+ is valued.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across audit, compliance, security, and business teams.
