A civil and structural engineering firm specializing in the physical civil and structural design of high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Engineer to join its growing team.

This position will work closely with Principal Engineers and Project Engineers on the design and development of substation sites, along with other civil engineering projects.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Civil Engineer will work alongside Principal Engineers and other members of the engineering team in the design and development of high-voltage substation sites.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform civil engineering design for high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards.

  • Develop site grading, drainage, erosion control, and stormwater designs.

  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic calculations and related engineering analysis.

  • Prepare civil engineering plans, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and Mathcad for engineering design and calculations.

  • Review engineering drawings and design documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).

  • Coordinate with Principal Engineers, Project Engineers, designers, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Identify design issues and develop practical engineering solutions.

  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting project schedules and deadlines.

  • Provide technical guidance to designers and delegate design tasks as needed.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

  • Assist with other civil engineering projects and responsibilities as needed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Civil Engineer who is technically capable, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of their work.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university located in the United States.

  • 3+ years of civil engineering experience preferred.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Experience with Mathcad.

  • Experience with civil site design, including grading and drainage.

  • Experience with hydraulics and hydrology, including engineering calculations.

  • Experience with SWPPP preparation and review is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and technical documentation skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with engineers, designers, clients, contractors, and coworkers.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering-related software.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

  • Fluent English proficiency is required.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with engineers, designers, clients, contractors, and company leadership.

  • Must be able to independently read, understand, prepare, and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, correspondence, and other technical documentation in English.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.

  • The degree must be earned from an accredited college or university located within the United States.

  • This is a required qualification for the position.
