We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a plaintiff-focused law firm in Baltimore, Maryland on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This role supports attorneys handling personal injury matters and is well suited to someone who can keep cases moving efficiently while maintaining a high standard of client service. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients, medical providers, insurance representatives, and legal counsel in a busy, team-oriented setting.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee personal injury case files from initial intake through settlement or litigation, ensuring each matter progresses in a timely manner.
• Prepare, revise, and organize legal correspondence, pleadings, and supporting case documents with careful attention to accuracy and completeness.
• Request, review, and maintain medical records and billing materials needed for claim development and case evaluation.
• Communicate with insurance adjusters and carriers to support claim handling, status updates, and ongoing case activity.
• Manage matters involving vehicle damage and Personal Injury Protection benefits, keeping documentation current and accessible.
• Track filing deadlines, court appearances, and other key litigation dates to help attorneys stay ahead of case requirements.
• Submit court documents through Maryland electronic filing systems in accordance with procedural rules and deadlines.
• Monitor treatment progress, lien details, and settlement documentation while keeping files orderly and well documented.
• Provide day-to-day administrative and litigation support, including calendar coordination and general case management assistance.• At least 3 years of experience in a legal support role focused on personal injury matters.
• Demonstrated background handling auto accident cases through multiple stages, from client intake to litigation support.
• Working knowledge of insurance claims, medical documentation, billing records, and property damage matters.
• Familiarity with Personal Injury Protection claims and the processes associated with personal injury case administration.
• Experience with court filings, including electronic filing procedures used in Maryland courts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and case management or organizational software such as Osana or similar platforms.
• Strong organizational, communication, and client service skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
