Pharmacy Supervisor, Education Enterprise

The Pharmacy Supervisor, Education Enterprise, position serves as the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director (RPD), Acute Care Setting, and provides operational and strategic leadership for residency training while also supporting enterprise-wide standardization across pharmacy residency programs. This position is responsible for developing and implementing systems that strengthen the pharmacy workforce pipeline, promote consistent educational practices, improve learner and preceptor outcomes, and ensure alignment of education programs with departmental and organizational priorities. The supervisor collaborates with pharmacy leadership, preceptors, human resources, academic partners, and healthcare professionals to ensure educational excellence, regulatory compliance, workforce development, and achievement of departmental strategic goals.

This role devotes approximately 70% effort to direct supervision, mentoring, and performance management of residents. The remaining 30% of effort is dedicated continuous improvement, preceptor and workforce development, and community engagement initiatives. #CA-DS

• California Pharmacist License
• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD), or equivalent training
• Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency
• Experience with education or training program development, learner assessment, and program evaluation
• Five (5) years of experience in pharmacy operations or clinical pharmacy, or two (2) years of experience leading or supervising pharmacy personnel
• Comprehensive knowledge of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) residency accreditation standards and residency program administration
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentorship skills
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple high-stake tasks and competing priorities
• Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency with learner management systems, data analytics, and Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Post Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency
• Advanced management training [e.g., Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Health Administration (MHA), or Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)], or equivalent
• Experience as Residency Program Director of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited program

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
