Job Description

Grinder

Job Summary
Operate grinding equipment to remove cosmetic defects from castings before they enter the machining process. Inspect castings, grind surfaces to meet quality standards, safely operate tools and material-handling equipment, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Responsibilities

Visually inspect castings for defects prior to grinding.
Operate grinding equipment to remove cosmetic defects and produce the required finish.
Identify casting defects and bring them to the supervisor’s attention for corrective action.
Ensure castings meet quality standards before entering the machining area.
Maintain grinding machinery, patterns, hand tools, and other equipment in good working condition.
Safely operate hand and power tools, machinery, forklifts, semi-automated material-handling equipment, and overhead cranes.
Wear all required PPE and follow company safety procedures.
Participate in required training and continuing education.
Work overtime as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.
Relevant manufacturing or industrial work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and industrial equipment.
Ability to identify and communicate casting defects and quality issues.
Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and perform physically demanding tasks.
Previous grinding, casting, foundry, or manufacturing experience preffered.
