Snelling is recruiting a Lathe Operator for a steel company in the Birmingham area. If you’re ready to join a team who is working to make the steel industry more sustainable and do meaningful work, you’re ready to join this dynamic team!
Hours: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM.
Starting pay $27.00-30.00/hr per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for growth and advancement
What You'll Do as a Lathe Operator:
- Maintain a safe work environment and keep work area clean and organized
- Set up, adjust, and operate CNC Lathe machine tools and many specialized or advanced variations of tools to preform precision machining
- Manage daily operations to include cutting rolls, spray welding roll passes, overseeing lathe maintenance/tooling and inventory
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for each job
- Ability to recall specifics, methods, and processes
- Perform additional duties as needed
Experience You'll Need as a Lathe Operator:
- Experience working with Dainichi Lathes & LeBlond Lathes
- Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet needs
- Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
- Ability to stand for duration of a shift, up to 12 hours; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the shift
