Job Title: Energy Program Assistant
 Employment Type: Full Time 
Location: Goldsboro, NC
Pay: $16per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5
 
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to determine client eligibility for multiple public assistance programs, including the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP), Emergency Assistance Program, General Assistance Program, Share the Warmth Program, Energy Neighbor Fund, and Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). The role ensures that individuals and families receive timely support to alleviate heating, cooling, and/or medication-related crises.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct interviews with clients to assess needs and gather required documentation.
· Evaluate applicant information to determine program eligibility.
· Coordinate with vendors and service providers to arrange assistance for approved clients.
· Respond to general inquiries via phone or in person in a professional and courteous manner.
· Provide referrals to additional community programs and resources when appropriate.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with all program requirements.
· Monitor cases to ensure ongoing adherence to eligibility standards and promptly address client needs.
Qualifications & Skills
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in social services or related field preferred.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to show empathy while maintaining professionalism.
· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and recordkeeping abilities.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet program deadlines.
· Familiarity with community resources, public assistance programs, or casework is a plus.
