Heavy Equipment Operator - W & WW

 

This position is based on a 36-hour workweek with the following schedule:

Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 3:00pm. 

Position Function - Under the direction of the Director of Public Works and/or Designee, performs assigned duties necessary to support the Water & Wastewater Division to ensure the proper installation, maintenance, repair and/or modification of water and wastewater pipelines, mains, valves, meters, hydrants, and manholes. Performs as the lead heavy equipment operator. 

Essential Duties% of Performance 
 

Performs assigned duties necessary to support the Water/Wastewater Division by ensuring the proper construction, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater pipelines, mains, valves, hydrants and manholes. Duties include, but are not limited to: operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and specialized equipment used for excavation and hydro-excavation activities; daily pre-use inspection of equipment; preparation and loading of necessary materials for equipment operation; safe, efficient operation of equipment; and daily post-use maintenance and inspection of equipment. Responsible for ensuring work site safety and traffic control in compliance with rules/regulations/SOP's.80%

Performs duties necessary to support the Water and Wastewater division by assisting crews with manual labor, responding to after hour calls and during emergency situations, and performing minor repairs and maintenance on various equipment and vehicles.
 May be required to assist other City departments. Performs all duties assigned to the crew he/she leads to include, but limited to: manual labor, heavy equipment operations, etc.15%
