About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing leader in the wall décor and print-on-demand industry, operating a network of e-commerce storefronts, business-to-business brands, in-house art creation, and coast-to-coast production facilities. Known for pairing operational excellence with innovation, the company is focused on delivering more for its customers — more products, more quality, and more speed — while building a culture that thinks bigger and moves fast.

They are seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join a high-volume manufacturing environment where reliable, well-maintained equipment is what keeps production and order fulfillment running on time.

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Technician II independently maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs automated production and fulfillment equipment in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing facility. This role is critical to maximizing equipment uptime, sustaining consistent product quality, and ensuring on-time order fulfillment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on large-format printers, conveyors, framing machines, miter saws, joiners, CNC machinery, and packaging systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems including sensors, actuators, HMIs, barcode scanners, and vision systems.
  • Maintain print systems including printheads, ink delivery systems, and curing units to ensure consistent output quality.
  • Perform equipment setups, changeovers, and calibrations to support high-mix, short-run production.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately in the CMMS (E-Maintenance by Fluke).
  • Conduct equipment inspections and system checks to identify and address potential issues proactively.

    Additional Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and IT teams to improve equipment reliability and throughput.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Maintenance Technician I team members.
  • Participate in training and skill development programs.

    Experience and Educational Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or trade school training in a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in automated manufacturing, distribution, or e-commerce fulfillment environments.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical (AC/DC), and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting PLC-based equipment such as Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic computer skills with experience using a CMMS or similar maintenance tracking system.

    Specific Skills and Competencies

  • Coursework or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with large-format digital printing, CNC equipment, or automated packaging systems.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and warehouse automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo motors, and three-phase electrical systems.
  • Intermediate electrical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot circuits and control systems.
  • Experience in high-volume, deadline-driven manufacturing or fulfillment environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills with a systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a consistent commitment to quality and safety.
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Self-motivated and dependable with a strong work ethic and willingness to take direction.
