Medical Transcriptionist

Position Summary

The Medical Transcriptionist is primarily responsible for accurately transcribing physician dictation into the electronic medical record (EMR). This position also includes limited administrative responsibilities, including answering incoming phone calls and occasionally securing the office at the end of the day.

Essential Responsibilities

Medical Transcription

• Transcribe physician dictation into the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately and efficiently.
• Review and edit documentation for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and medical terminology.
• Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate with providers when clarification of documentation is needed.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner.
• Occasionally lock and secure the medical practice at the end of the business day in accordance with office procedures.
• Support the Practice Manager and clinical staff with additional administrative duties as assigned
• Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to assist with additional job-related responsibilities as assigned to support the needs of the practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous medical transcription experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
• Professional, reliable, and dependable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in wound care, hyperbaric medicine, or another medical specialty.
• Experience working in a physician office or outpatient medical practice.
• Bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Ability to occasionally move throughout the office as needed.

Pay: $20.00–$22.00 per hour (based on experience)

• Monday–Friday
• Day shift
