CNC Mill / Wire EDM Operator – Tool & Die Apprentice

Location: Northwest Houston / Cypress Area – 77095
Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM; Fridays as needed

TruBlu HR Solutions is seeking a CNC Mill / Wire EDM Operator – Tool & Die Apprentice for a precision manufacturing facility in Northwest Houston.

This position is a good opportunity for someone with CNC machining, Wire EDM, machine operation, or related precision manufacturing experience who wants to continue developing their machining skills while cross-training in Tool & Die maintenance and repair.

You do not need to already be an expert in CNC Milling, Wire EDM, and Tool & Die. Experience with CNC machining, Wire EDM, or similar precision manufacturing equipment is preferred, along with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Mill and Wire EDM machines according to production requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Load and secure workpieces, tooling, fixtures, and materials.
• Monitor machine operation and make basic adjustments to maintain production and quality requirements.
• Inspect finished and in-process components for dimensional accuracy.
• Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance.
• Identify machining, dimensional, tooling, or equipment issues and communicate concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Learn and become proficient in both CNC Mill and Wire EDM operations.
• Assist with Tool & Die maintenance and repair during machine downtime or as assigned.
• Cross-train on additional manufacturing equipment and processes as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience in CNC machining, Wire EDM, machine operation, Tool & Die, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
• Hands-on experience operating a CNC Mill or Wire EDM machine is highly preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to perform basic machine setups and adjustments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Dependable attendance and reliable work history.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
• Willingness to learn additional equipment, processes, and Tool & Die functions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
