Pipe Layer

Gillmann Services is currently recruiting for a Pipe layer in the Chattanooga TN area.

Responsibilities:

MUST HAVE 7 YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH REHAB AND GRAVITY SEWER EXPERIENCE 

• Install and align underground water, sewer, storm drain, and utility pipes.
• Prepare trenches and pipe beds for proper installation.
• Set, connect, and seal various types and sizes of pipe.
• Read and understand construction plans, specifications, and grade stakes.
• Use hand tools and basic pipe-laying equipment.
• Check pipe grades, elevations, alignment, and slope.
• Assist equipment operators and other crew members with excavation and installation.
• Perform backfilling, compaction, and site cleanup as needed.
• Identify and address installation issues or potential hazards.
• Follow OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications:

• Previous pipe-laying or underground utility experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and digging.
• Knowledge of underground utility installation procedures.
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively with a crew.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on the project.
• OSHA or other construction safety training is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in trenches for extended periods.
• Ability to work safely around heavy construction equipment.
