Specimen Technician

• Support the Specimen Processing Department in a fast-paced laboratory production environment.
• Perform data entry, specimen sorting, labeling, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging/microfilming, and specimen pickup/delivery.
• Accurately process different specimen types according to the tests ordered.
• Maintain high productivity, accuracy, and quality standards while meeting departmental deadlines.
• Follow all safety, compliance, HIPAA, and biohazard procedures.
• Keep the work area clean and organized and communicate effectively with team members.
• Must be comfortable sitting/standing for long periods and working in a biohazard environment.
• Strong computer/data-entry skills required — approximately 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour.
• HS Diploma/GED required. Laboratory, medical terminology, hospital, or production experience is preferred but not required.
• Night shift is common; availability for weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call work may be required.
