Fabrication Shop Manager

Job Description

Nexus Disposal is seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our fabrication shop. This position plays a critical role in supporting our fleet and container operations by managing fabrication projects, supervising shop staff, and ensuring high-quality repairs and builds of waste management equipment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong welding and fabrication experience who can manage shop workflow, maintain safety standards, and keep projects on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the fabrication shop and manage shop workflow
• Supervise welders, fabricators, and shop personnel
• Coordinate fabrication, repair, and modification of roll-off containers, dumpsters, and truck components
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards
• Maintain inventory of fabrication materials, tools, and shop supplies
• Coordinate repair priorities with operations and dispatch teams
• Inspect completed fabrication work for quality and safety
• Enforce safety policies and maintain OSHA compliance
• Train and mentor shop staff
• Maintain shop equipment and ensure tools are in proper working condition
• Keep shop clean, organized, and operating efficientlyQualifications
• 5+ years of welding or fabrication experience
• 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a fabrication shop
• Strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, and stick welding
• Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings
• Experience with steel fabrication and heavy equipment
• Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Knowledge of shop safety practices and OSHA regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in waste management, container fabrication, or trucking industry
• Experience working with roll-off containers or dumpsters
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, and work in a fabrication shop environment
