Tool Room Technician

Overview
Venture Dynamics is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Tool Room Clerk / Equipment Manager to support warehouse, tool control, and inventory functions for Navy ship repair projects. This position is responsible for issuing and receiving tools, tracking equipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting project teams with NAVSEA-compliant materials and documentation. Work is performed in a warehouse and industrial shipyard support environment.

Responsibilities

• Issue and receive tools, equipment, and consumables using established check-out/check-in procedures
• Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular cycle counts and reconciliations
• Use inventory management software (ERP or tool tracking systems) to log transactions and monitor stock
• Organize and maintain tool room, storage areas, and equipment racks in a safe and efficient layout
• Track and coordinate tool calibration, inspection intervals, and repairs
• Identify, handle, and store materials used in Navy ship repair in accordance with NAVSEA standards
• Maintain documentation such as calibration certificates, tool lists, and inventory reports
• Forecast tool needs for upcoming projects and assist purchasing with replenishment requests
• Prepare reports on missing tools, damaged equipment, utilization rates, and calibration status
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material-handling equipment as required
• Support mechanics, technicians, and supervisors by locating and issuing required equipment quickly and accurately
• Follow warehouse safety practices, hazardous material handling rules, and shipyard compliance procedures

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience in a tool room, warehouse inventory, or material control role
• Proficiency with computer-based inventory systems and Microsoft Office (Excel required)
• Direct experience supporting Navy ship repair or NAVSEA-governed projects
• Strong organizational skills, accountability, and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely operate warehouse equipment
• Must pass background check and meet Navy base access requirements (DBIDS when required)
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) tracking
• Forklift or material handling certification
• Experience working in shipyard support environments or with Navy project material lists
• Familiarity with tool calibration programs and documentation requirements
