Special Education Teacher in Melrose Park, IL

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
• Experience working with middle school students, preferably within a self-contained or specialized setting
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver dynamic instruction to students in a self-contained classroom setting, supporting a variety of learning styles and needs
• Develop, monitor, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Foster a structured, nurturing environment that promotes student independence and academic growth
• Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and share updates with families and faculty
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators to create inclusive educational experiences
• Manage classroom behavior through positive supports and consistent routines
• Participate in ongoing professional development and school activities
