Maintenance Mechanic

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of machines, pumps, motors, HVAC units, and facility equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshoot issues, calibrate equipment, and provide service. Your duties include cleaning, disassembling, and reinstalling machine components, lubricating moving parts, and documenting damaged or worn parts. You will also conduct minor electrical troubleshooting, installations, and perform plumbing tasks. Utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), you will enter and close work orders, update equipment records, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules. Compliance with FDA, SQF, OSHA, and internal safety procedures is essential, and you will maintain a clean, organized work area. Your role involves completing maintenance documentation, supporting facility upkeep, and assisting with equipment upgrades and utility connections.

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, pumps, motors, HVAC units, and facility equipment.

• Perform plumbing tasks including copper piping, pipe threading, fixture repair, and installation.
• Utilize CMMS to enter and close work orders, update equipment records, and maintain PM schedules.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, SQF, OSHA, and internal safety procedures; maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Complete maintenance documentation, logbooks, and required forms accurately.
• Support facility upkeep, fire/burglar system response, and coordination with outside contractors.
• Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and utility connections.
• Follow all safety rules and SOPs, contributing to an accident‑free work environment.
• Perform additional maintenance tasks as assigned.

• Advanced troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills for production equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in repairing pumps, mixers, motors, and related equipment.
• 5+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Vocational/technical training in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing trades.
• Experience with minor electrical work and plumbing (copper pipe, threading, soldering, ProPress).
• Ability to document work through CMMS systems.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.

• Experience with welding, HVAC systems, and lean principles is a plus.
• 2+ years working within a preventive maintenance program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and floor‑cleaning equipment.
• Ability to work overtime and occasionally in tight or confined spaces.
• Strong time‑management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance, production, and cross‑functional teams.

Work hours are 8 am to 4 pm, with 8 hours of overtime per week, which may occur before or after shifts or on Saturdays. The work environment involves occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, precarious places, and moderate to loud noise levels. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carteret, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
