Special Education Teacher - Stamford, Connecticut

A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher skilled in supporting a variety of student needs. Located in the vicinity of Stamford and Bridgeport, CT, this full-time role spans 32.5 hours per week within a welcoming educational environment. The position offers a diverse K-12 caseload, engaging with both self-contained autism classrooms and resource settings. What we’re seeking in an ideal candidate:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (state-specific requirements apply)
• Previous experience with self-contained autism programs or resource room settings preferred
• K-12 teaching experience, ideally within K-8 environments
• Expertise or interest in reading intervention or specialization
• Strong collaboration skills with general educators, specialists, and support staff
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning profiles
• Effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams

Primary responsibilities include:

• Providing individualized instruction and support to students with a range of needs
• Developing and implementing IEPs in collaboration with colleagues and families
• Using evidence-based teaching strategies to support academic, behavioral, and social growth
• Monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed to ensure student success
• Creating an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment
