Job Title: Micro Assembler

Location: Watsonville, CA

Pay Range: $20-$23 an hr

Position Summary

The Assembly Technician performs precision mechanical assembly work, using a microscope, to build and assemble.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, engineering prints, and work instruction packages.
• Perform detailed mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies under a microscope only.
• Follow manufacturing procedures and accurately complete all required documentation.
• Assemble button and body components using brazing techniques.
• Assemble heater-equipped units using potting procedures.
• Operate high-temperature hydrogen atmosphere furnaces in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor furnace operations and assist with furnace calibration activities.
• Use assembly tools and equipment, including cutoff wheels and ohm meters.
• Maintain high quality standards while minimizing scrap and rework.
• Record accurate production data on assembly records, logs, and reports.
• Maintain personal notes and documentation for reference during recurring procedures.
• Adapt to process improvements, engineering changes, and updated work instructions.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous manufacturing assembly mechanical experience under a microscope is required. 
• Experience working with blueprints, technical drawings.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.
• Ability to learn new assembly processes and procedures.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Mathematical Skills

• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to work with fractions, decimals, and standard units of measurement.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform detailed assembly work using hands and fingers for extended periods.
• Ability to sit for long periods while performing microscope-based assembly work.
• Frequent use of close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and communicate with others.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

• Operate high-temperature hydrogen atmosphere furnaces for assembly tasks such as brazing and potting.
• Maintain detailed documentation of assembly records, logs, and reports.
• Adjust to process improvements and instruction updates to ensure quality and efficiency.

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic reading, writing, mathematics, and mechanical comprehension skills.
• Ability to interpret detailed instructions and documentation effectively.
• Familiarity with using tools such as cut-off wheels and ohm meters is a plus.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
