Diagnostic and Interventional Specialist Job Responsibilities

The Diagnostic and Interventional Specialist will assist in delivering sterile diagnostic and interventional care to patients across various age groups, from young adults to the elderly. The primary responsibilities include:

• Assisting with Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Procedures (e.g., PTCA, PCI, Rotablator, CSI, Penumbra).
• Providing support during Balloon Pump and Impella insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Assisting with Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUs) and assessing fractional flow reserve (FFR) / instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR).
• Supporting various vascular procedures including IVC filters, acute and chronic occlusions, PTA/stenting, and others.
• Assisting with vascular access and the maintenance/pulling of arterial and venous sheaths.
• Helping with the insertion of temporary pacemakers and in the care of critically ill patients.
• Using and maintaining various arterial and venous closure devices, including application, maintenance, and post-care.
• Supporting structural heart procedures such as TAVR, Watchman, PFO closures, and Mitraclips.
• Assisting with electrophysiology (EP) procedures, including synchronized cardioversion/defibrillation.
• Maintaining sterile technique and assisting with radiological positioning and cardiac monitor lead placement.
• Monitoring contrast volume used and reporting details to the physician as necessary.
• Troubleshooting X-Ray equipment and other cath lab equipment.
• Gathering data for PCI registry and keeping detailed EMR documentation.
• Providing postmortem care and assisting in patient transport.
• Providing continuous assessment of hemodynamic stability using both invasive and non-invasive measures.
• Participating in 24/7 call coverage with a strict arrival time to the hospital.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required, with an Associate's degree in Radiology Technology being mandatory.
• ARRT and KY State Certifications are required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Nuclear Medicine Certification is preferred.
• EKG training and annual competency review are required.
• ACLS certification is required, with the expectation to complete a class within six months.
• PALS certification is required within 24 months of hire or transfer.

Schedule Information

This position may involve a schedule of 48 hours per week, with shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, and could extend up to 20 weeks.
