Physical Environment Programs Administrator

This position serves as the Physical Environment Program Administrator within the UC Davis Health Office of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and as a healthcare subject matter expert for Joint Commission-based physical environment programs across the UC system. Working independently under the general direction of the Associate Director of EH&S, the incumbent leads the UC Davis Health clinical safety rounding program, including coordination of inspection activities and implementation of data-driven safety improvements. The position also supports the Safety Committee, serves as the Integrated Pest Management Program Lead, and participates in the EH&S Administrator on Duty (AOD) rotation to provide 24/7 emergency response support.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
• Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or similar relevant fields and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EH&S-related experience leading safety and compliance initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience supporting audits and inspections, including preparation, facilitation, and timely response to findings and recommendations.
• Working knowledge of a broad range of EH&S fields and inspection processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), databases, email systems, and internet applications.
• Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly, accurately, and professionally.
• Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Accredited Risk Manager (ARM)
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
• Advanced degree in Health and Safety or related field.
• EH&S-related experience working in a healthcare setting with progressive responsibilities.
• Experience participating in or leading Joint Commission survey teams.
• Experience conducting inspections or leading inspection teams.
• Strong skills in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety surveillance programs and projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safe hospital operations and regulatory compliance, including adherence to applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, prioritize, and coordinate responses to critical and emergency situations while ensuring patient safety.

Department Overview

UC Davis Health Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) provides expertise in accident prevention, industrial hygiene, environmental protection, occupational safety, business continuity, hazardous materials and waste management, and exposure control. This position reports directly to the UC Davis Health Director of Environmental Health & Safety and also provides support to the UC Office of the President Executive Director of EH&S.
