Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Employment Type: Contract (Strong possibility of extension or permanent conversion)

Shift: Day Shift | Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Pay Rate: $31.62 / hour

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Mechanic to support our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing plant production equipment and utility systems. You will play a vital part in ensuring our operations run safely, reliably, and efficiently while supporting proactive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

As a key technical resource for manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams, you will respond quickly to equipment downtime, lead root-cause diagnosis, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize production throughput.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility utility systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, filling, packaging, and conveying equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions; identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Execute equipment rebuilds, pump and motor repairs, piping installations, and structural welding/fabrication.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, work orders, and parts usage within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); assist with spare parts inventory tracking.
• Maintain full compliance with OSHA, FDA, GMP, USDA, and facility safety and quality standards at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical certification, vocational trade diploma, formal apprenticeship, or military maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
• An equivalent combination of technical education and hands-on industrial maintenance experience will be considered.

Required Experience

• 3–5+ years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or electro-mechanical technician experience.
• Proven track record troubleshooting and repairing production machinery in an active manufacturing facility.
• Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
• Hands-on proficiency across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Prior experience supporting high-speed manufacturing or packaging equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in FDA/GMP-regulated industries (e.g., food, pharmaceutical, medical device, or nutritional manufacturing).
• Familiarity with automated packaging machinery, high-speed filling lines, barcode scanners, and industrial inkjet printers.
• Experience using CMMS software for maintenance logging and work order tracking.
• Proficiency in TIG, MIG, and stainless-steel welding and fabrication.
• Solid industrial electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
