Your Role as a Physical Therapist Assistant

As a PTA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide skilled treatment and help residents achieve their individualized rehabilitation goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement each resident’s individualized treatment plan as established by the Physical Therapist.

• Provide physical therapy treatments designed to improve mobility, strength, balance, function, and independence.

• Work collaboratively with members of the rehabilitation and interdisciplinary teams to deliver programs consistent with each resident’s needs and capabilities.

• Assist the Physical Therapist with tests, evaluations, and complex procedures as directed.

• Monitor and communicate residents’ responses to treatment and progress to the supervising Physical Therapist.

• Instruct residents, families, and caregivers in appropriate physical therapy techniques and strategies under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

• Promote resident safety, dignity, participation, and independence throughout treatment.

• Complete required clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation or supervising Physical Therapist.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program recognized by the appropriate accrediting body.

• Current and valid PTA license or eligibility for licensure as required by the state of practice.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Compassionate, patient-focused approach to resident care.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative rehabilitation team.
