Rehabilitation Technician

Full-Time

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented Rehabilitation Technician to support our rehabilitation department and therapy team. In this role, you will assist therapists with patient care, treatment preparation, transportation, clerical responsibilities, and the daily operations of the rehabilitation department.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants with patient care and treatment activities as directed.

• Prepare patients and treatment areas for therapy.

• Safely transport patients to and from treatment areas as scheduled.

• Provide general support to patients, families, visitors, and rehabilitation team members.

• Assist with clerical and administrative duties, including computer-based tasks.

• Answer and direct telephone calls professionally.

• Develop and maintain organized filing systems.

• Coordinate daily activities with rehabilitation staff and other facility departments.

• Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude when interacting with patients, families, and staff.

• Assist with maintaining clean, organized, and safe treatment areas.

• Monitor and maintain adequate supplies and equipment.

• Report equipment concerns, unusual incidents, or safety issues to the Director of Rehabilitation or designee.

• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.

• Participate in department and facility meetings as assigned.

• Participate in facility performance improvement and quality initiatives.

• Maintain reliable attendance and provide appropriate notice for scheduled time off.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation or designee.

• Travel between facilities as directed by the supervisor, when required.

Qualifications & Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Current CNA certification in Virginia is required.

• Previous experience providing patient or resident care in a nursing center, hospital, rehabilitation center, or similar healthcare setting preferred.

• Therapy students may be considered.

• Completion of required on-the-job orientation and training.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary team members.

Physical & Functional Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday.

• Ability to safely lift, carry, and support patients, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to assist with patient transfers and mobility as directed.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Ability to remain alert and attentive to patient safety at all times.

• Ability to work effectively with elderly, disabled, ill, emotionally upset, or occasionally difficult patients and family members.

• Ability to manage the physical and emotional demands of patient care.

• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.

• Appropriate vision and hearing, with reasonable accommodations where applicable, to perform essential job duties.

Working Environment

• Work is performed in therapy areas, offices, and patient-care environments.

• Frequent interaction with patients, residents, families, medical staff, nursing personnel, and other departments.

• Position may involve frequent interruptions and changing priorities.

• May encounter infectious diseases, bodily fluids, odors, falls, equipment-related hazards, and other clinical risks.

• Position requires constant attention to patient and resident safety.

• May occasionally be required to work beyond normal hours or assist in other areas of the facility as needed.

• Must be willing and able to travel between facilities when assigned.

• Mobile phone use is permitted only during scheduled breaks and unpaid lunch periods. Phones must remain on vibrate while on duty.

Exposure Risk

This position involves potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and other clinical hazards associated with patient care.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation or designee

Supervisory Responsibilities: May provide delegated support or supervision as assigned.
