Job Description
Hawthorne Health is seeking experienced Psychiatric Clinical Raters to support upcoming psychiatric clinical trials across our community-based research sites in Lindenwold, NJ; Boynton Beach, FL; McAllen, TX and Tomball, TX.
This is a flexible, 1099 per-diem opportunity ideal for experienced mental health professionals interested in supplemental clinical research work.
Clinical or Psychometric Raters will work alongside our Principal Investigators, Sub-Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, and clinical operations teams to conduct protocol-required psychiatric assessments and symptom rating scales for studies focused on conditions such as generalized anxiety and depression.
- Conduct protocol-required psychiatric assessments and rating scales with clinical trial participants
- Administer and score standardized psychiatric symptom measures according to study requirements
- Evaluate areas such as depression, anxiety, overall symptom severity, functioning, and suicidality, as applicable to the study
- Maintain consistency and accuracy in assessment administration and scoring
- Complete sponsor- and protocol-required rater training and certification
- Document assessments accurately and within required study timelines
- Collaborate with Principal Investigators, Sub-Investigators, CRCs, and other research team members
- Follow study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable research requirements
- Maintain participant confidentiality and provide a professional, patient-centered experience
- Professional background in psychiatry, psychology, behavioral health, mental health, or a related clinical field
- Experience conducting psychiatric or behavioral health assessments
- Previous experience as a Clinical Rater, Psychiatric Rater, Psychometric Rater, Clinical Research Assessor, or similar role
- Experience supporting psychiatric clinical trials or other clinical research studies
- Experience administering and scoring standardized psychiatric rating scales, such as MADRS, HAM-D/HDRS, HAM-A, C-SSRS, CGI-S, CGI-I, or similar assessments
- Strong interviewing, observation, assessment, and clinical documentation skills
- Ability to administer standardized assessments consistently and objectively
- Familiarity with clinical research protocols, GCP, and research documentation requirements
- Ability and willingness to complete sponsor- and study-specific rater training and certification
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary research team
- Availability to provide flexible, per-diem support based on participant and study scheduling needs
