Automotive Engineering Manager

Summary: The selected candidate will be responsible for successful cost estimating, design, implementation, launch, and continuous improvement for all assigned manufacturing equipment and processes that produce the company’s products. Determines and develops approaches to assignments. Leads or is key in development and/ or design projects requiring coordination with other functions. Solves a broad range of problems of varying scope and complexity.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Manage Program-specific internal communications.  Ensure all associates have the information needed to do their job.  Shield the organization from confusion 

• Accountable that these activities are accurate and on time for new programs and engineering changes. Verify parts will meet specifications – processing/material flow, packaging (internal and external), packaging purchase request submission, packaging BOM’s updated in IQMS for WIP, service, expendable, and finish good, and packaging instructions, work instructions complete for molding and assembly.

• Responsible that these activities are accurate and on time for new programs and engineering changes.  Floor space approved, run at rates internally including documentation, and run at rate for Tier 2 including documentation.
• Responsible for program governance via workflow system for plant deliverables 
• Manage program plans, timelines, and open issues 

• Responsible that plant leadership is informed of program and change management status
• Support best practice process improvements at the plant level
• Manage continuous improvement deliverables tied to Manufacture Engineer/s

• Document responses to the customer to ensure agreement on decisions and direction
• Participate in resolution of quality concerns
• Manage, coordinate, or support customer visits
• Ensure a high standard of business ethics is maintained.

• Owner of controlled documents and procedures tied to engineering deliverables at the plant level
• Travel as requested by company or customer

• Operate in accordance with established RASIC (Responsible, Accountable, Supportive, Informed, Consulted) assignments, accepting accountability where designated and ensuring clarity of ownership, decision authority, and escalation paths.

• Preform other duties as determined by the Plant Manager, Director of Operations, or VP of Engineering

Skill and Education Requirements

·         Act as a liaison between CLC and the customer

·         Represent CLC as a supplier of choice in terms of competence and commitment

·         Excellent problem-solving abilities.  

·         Familiarity with Quality systems. 

·         Provide technical support on all product assigned Program launches. 

·         Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling. 

·         Familiarity with MS Office suite, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and program timelines. 

·         Ability to read blueprints. 

·         Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization. 

·         Ability to plan and execute Launch activities within the Plant. 

·         Ability to lead cross functional teams toward success. 

·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  

·         Ability to clearly write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 

·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers and the general public.   

·         Ability to negotiate toward a preferred solution.

·         Ability to travel up to 20% domestically within the United States and internationally, as required. A valid, up to date passport is required and must be maintained at all times.
