Fabricator - Full Time

Fabricator

The Fabricator is responsible for laying out, measuring, cutting, fitting, assembling, and preparing metal components and structures according to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. This position requires proficiency in metal fabrication, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, and the safe operation of fabrication equipment. The Fabricator plays a key role in producing high-quality assemblies while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, bills of material, fabrication details, and work instructions.
• Layout, measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble metal components to required specifications and tolerances.
• Fabricate structural frames, platforms, brackets, guards, assemblies, and custom metal components.
• Operate fabrication equipment including band saws, ironworkers, drill presses, grinders, shears, presses, and other metalworking machinery.
• Prepare metal components for welding and final assembly.
• Work with structural steel, sheet metal, stainless steel, and aluminum as required.
• Verify dimensions, angles, and tolerances using precision measuring tools including tape measures, squares, calipers, and gauges.
• Inspect fabricated components and assemblies to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Grind, deburr, finish, and prepare fabricated components for welding, coating, shipment, or secondary operations.
• Perform rework, repairs, adjustments, and modifications as required.
• Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment when trained and authorized.
• Maintain fabrication tools, machinery, and equipment in good working condition.
• Accurately complete production, quality, inspection, and maintenance documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and 5S initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years of metal fabrication experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Experience with metal layout, cutting, fitting, drilling, grinding, and assembly.
• Experience operating fabrication equipment such as band saws, ironworkers, drill presses, grinders, shears, and presses.
• Experience working with structural steel, sheet metal, stainless steel, and aluminum preferred.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and dimensional inspection.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of metal properties and fabrication processes.
• Knowledge of ISO standards, quality systems, and inspection processes preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic mathematical skills for measurements, layouts, fractions, decimals, angles, and dimensional calculations.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Pre-employment Qualifications:
Pass required pre-employment drug screening and obtain acceptable background check results, including driving record when applicable.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred. 2+ years of metal fabrication experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment. Experience fabricating components from blueprints and engineering drawings is required. Experience working with structural steel, sheet metal, stainless steel, and aluminum is preferred.

Computer Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of ISO standards, quality systems, and inspection processes preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of metal properties and fabrication processes.
