Saw Operator

The Saw Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining industrial saw equipment to cut raw materials to specified dimensions. This role requires precision cutting, accuracy, strong attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures and quality standards to ensure finished parts meet customer specifications and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate band saws, circular saws, and other cutting equipment according to work orders, production specifications, and job requirements.
• Measure, mark, and cut raw materials, including metal, plastic, or wood, to required dimensions using proper material cutting techniques.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and job instructions to ensure accurate production.
• Inspect raw materials and finished parts before and after cutting to verify dimensional accuracy, specifications, and overall quality.
• Maintain saws and related equipment, including blade changes, sharpening, equipment adjustments, and routine preventive maintenance.
• Record production quantities, job details, material usage, and other required production information accurately.
• Follow all established machine safety, workplace safety, and PPE requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards and manufacturing best practices.
• Assist other production and manufacturing team members as needed to support workflow and production goals.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the production facility.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience as a Saw Operator, Machine Operator, Production Operator, or in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
• Experience using measuring tools, including a tape measure, calipers, and squares, to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain precision and accuracy while performing repetitive production tasks.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machine operation, equipment adjustments, and machine safety practices.
• Ability to perform basic equipment inspections and assist with preventive maintenance and routine troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a production team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions associated with machine operation and material handling.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. as required.
• Ability to work safely in a production environment with noise, dust, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
