Metal Man / Insulation Technician

We are seeking an experienced Metal Man / Insulation Technician to support insulation and metal fabrication work at an active refinery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, repairing, and maintaining insulation systems and fabricating/installing sheet metal jacketing and weatherproofing.

Candidates should be comfortable working in an industrial/refinery environment and following all site safety requirements, including PPE, work permits, fall protection, and other refinery-specific procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, remove, repair, and replace insulation on process piping, valves, tanks, vessels, equipment, and other refinery systems.
• Measure, cut, fabricate, and install sheet metal jacketing over insulated systems.
• Fabricate metal covers, boxes, elbows, fittings, pipe jackets, and other components to fit field conditions.
• Work with materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized sheet metal, and other jacketing materials.
• Read measurements, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to properly fabricate and install materials.
• Perform field measurements and accurately lay out metal jacketing and insulation systems.
• Install insulation materials such as fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, and other materials as required by the project.
• Install insulation around piping, valves, flanges, vessels, tanks, and equipment.
• Seal and weatherproof insulation systems to prevent moisture intrusion and maintain system integrity.
• Remove existing insulation and jacketing when required for maintenance or turnaround activities.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, snips, brakes, shears, drills, and other metal-fabrication equipment.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and elevated work platforms as required.
• Coordinate work with pipefitters, welders, scaffold crews, maintenance personnel, and other refinery crafts.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow refinery housekeeping requirements.
• Follow all site-specific safety procedures, including hot work, confined space, fall protection, PPE, and permit requirements.
• Participate in pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard assessments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Metal Man, Insulator, Insulation Technician, or similar industrial craft position.
• Experience working in a refinery, petrochemical plant, chemical plant, or other heavy industrial facility preferred.
• Strong experience with sheet metal fabrication and jacketing.
• Hands-on insulation experience with process piping and industrial equipment.
• Ability to accurately measure, cut, fabricate, and install metal jacketing.
• Ability to work safely around operating industrial equipment and process systems.
• Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor/industrial conditions.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a craft team.
• Must be able to pass required site-specific drug screening, background requirements, and safety orientation.
