Medical Assistant - Phlebotomy

About the Position

We are seeking a qualified and dependable Medical Assistant to join our Lacey, WA clinic. In this role, you will provide both clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and claimants undergoing VA Claim Exams (C&P Exams).

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment, and confident performing hands-on medical procedures, including phlebotomy and blood draws.

Key Responsibilities

• Interview patients/claimants and obtain accurate, comprehensive medical histories.
• Prepare clinical charts and conduct Medical Opinion (IMO) research before appointments.
• Maintain accurate medical records and billing reports while following privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Prepare, clean, and sanitize examination rooms and medical equipment.
• Escort claimants to examination rooms and assist throughout their visits.
• Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
• Perform phlebotomy and blood draws for diagnostic purposes.
• Perform EKGs, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), and Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) testing as directed.
• Send diagnostic requests to appropriate facilities and ensure timely processing.
• Assist with patient check-in/check-out and prescreening using PracticeSuite.
• Follow infection-control procedures and maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.
• Operate phones, fax machines, printers, scanners, copiers, and other office equipment.
• Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
• Work closely with the Supervisor to maintain an efficient clinic schedule and smooth daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Assistant (MA) certification required.
• Phlebotomy certification/qualification required.
• Demonstrated experience performing blood draws.
• Proficiency with clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and PFTs.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and standard healthcare procedures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Minimum typing speed of 45 WPM; 45–60 WPM preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to work on-site in Lacey, WA.
• No travel required.
• No credentialing process is required upon offer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a fast-paced medical or clinical environment.
• Experience working with veterans or VA-related examinations.
• Familiarity with PracticeSuite or similar healthcare scheduling systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working directly with patients and healthcare professionals.

Compensation & Benefits

• $27.00 per hour
• Benefits available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
• 401(k) with company match available after 1 year of service
