Job Description
About Talent 101, Inc.
Talent 101 is a global services provider focused exclusively on the semiconductor industry. We provide workforce and project-based solutions onshore, nearshore, and offshore.
Role: Mechanical Project Engineer
Duration 4 months.
Onsite: Richardson, TX
“We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer specializing in semiconductor facility utilities (PCW, CMP, Exhaust, etc.) to lead end-to-end infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of direct semiconductor industry experience, demonstrating mastery in translating complex utility requirements into robust mechanical designs. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle: from initial field verification and existing data evaluation to detailed design engineering, procurement support, and on-site construction management.”
2. Roles & Responsibilities
Phase I: Assessment & Data Analysis (The "Evaluation" Phase)
- Existing Utility Audit: Perform comprehensive evaluations of existing facility utility data (flow rates, pressure drops, temperature requirements, and chemical concentrations) to ensure capacity for new tool integrations or facility expansions.
- Field Verification: Conduct on-site physical audits and field verifications of existing piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipment to validate "as-built" drawings against real-world conditions.
- Gap Analysis: Identify discrepancies between current facility capabilities and future semiconductor process requirements (e.g., CMP slurry delivery requirements or PCW cooling loads).
Phase II: Design Engineering (The "Technical" Phase)
- System Design: Develop detailed mechanical designs for critical semiconductor utilities, including:
- PCW (Process Cooling Water): Closed-loop/open-loop systems, heat exchangers, and filtration.
- CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization) Support: Slurry delivery systems, centrifugal/diaphragm pump integration, and waste neutralization.
- Exhaust Systems: Acid/alkaline scrubbers, specialized chemical exhaust, and high-velocity airflow management.
- General Utilities: DI/UPW (Ultra-Pure Water), CDA (Compressed Dry Air), and specialty gas delivery piping.
- Technical Documentation: Generate and review P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), Isometrics, 3D Model reviews (BIM/Revit), and detailed Calculation Packages (head loss, thermal expansion, etc.).
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with SEMI standards, local building codes, and semiconductor safety protocols (FM Global, etc.).
Phase III: Project & Construction Management (The "Execution" Phase)
- End-to-End Project Oversight: Act as the single point of contact for the project lifecycle, ensuring milestones are met from conceptual design through to final commissioning.
- Construction Supervision: Provide on-site construction management, overseeing mechanical contractors to ensure installation strictly adheres to approved design specifications and semiconductor cleanliness standards.
- Procurement Support: Assist in the technical evaluation of vendors and equipment; review technical bid tabs to ensure mechanical components meet strict semiconductor-grade tolerances.
- Commissioning & Handover: Lead the startup, testing, and commissioning phase (SAT/FAT) to ensure all mechanical systems operate within specified parameters before handing over to operations.
- Change Management: Manage Field Change Requests (FCRs) and ensure any deviations during construction are documented and integrated into final "As-Built" packages.
3. Required Qualifications (The "Must-Have")
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of dedicated mechanical design experience within a Semiconductor Fab environment (highly preferred).
- Technical Expertise: Proven track record designing high-purity or high-corrosion resistance piping systems (PVDF, PP, Stainless Steel, etc.).
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks; ability to navigate Navisworks for clash detection.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex hydraulic and thermodynamic data.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field). Professional Engineer (PE) license is a significant plus.
Talent 101 is a global services provider for the semiconductor industry only. We provide a total workforce or project turnkey solution anywhere you need it: onshore, nearshore, or offshore.
