EHS Specialist (Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist)

We are looking for an EHS Specialist to strengthen environmental, health, and safety performance at our Janesville, Wisconsin facility. This role will guide compliance efforts, reduce workplace risk, and help build a proactive culture centered on safe operations and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate will partner across teams to improve procedures, deliver training, and ensure regulatory obligations are consistently met.

Responsibilities:

• Create, update, and manage environmental, health, and safety programs, standards, and operating procedures for the site.

• Perform regular inspections, audits, and hazard reviews to identify unsafe conditions and drive timely corrective action.

• Lead incident and near-miss reviews, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence.

• Conduct risk assessments and job hazard evaluations, including guidance on lockout/tagout and energy control practices.

• Oversee compliance tracking, safety performance metrics, and action-item follow-up to support continuous improvement.

• Support emergency preparedness by coordinating response plans, drills, and readiness activities across the facility.

• Monitor environmental obligations related to waste handling, hazardous materials, recycling, pollution prevention, and permit adherence.

• Maintain required compliance records and reports, and serve as a key contact during inspections, audits, and interactions with regulatory agencies, including matters related to wastewater permits.

• Develop and deliver training for employees, supervisors, and contractors, including onboarding and refresher sessions that reinforce safe work practices.

• Contribute to operational and improvement projects by integrating EHS requirements into planning, execution, and performance initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or chemical environment.
• Working knowledge of environmental and workplace safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, compliance assessments, and employee safety training.
• Ability to write clear policies, procedures, checklists, and compliance documentation.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage metrics, records, and corrective actions effectively.
• Certifications such as CSP, ASP, OHST, CIH, or related credentials are preferred.
