Machine Operator

Location: Chicago Heights, IL
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Shift: Overnight

We are seeking a Machine Operator 1 – Production to operate, monitor, and maintain manufacturing equipment while ensuring products meet company quality, safety, and production standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

• Operate, monitor, configure, adjust, and perform basic troubleshooting on production machinery and equipment.
• Ensure products meet company specifications and quality standards.
• Inspect equipment before production to ensure it is clean, safe, and ready for on-time startup.
• Perform routine process and quality checks throughout production.
• Verify dates and codes on packaging materials.
• Assist the Quality Department with product samples and other quality-related tasks.
• Troubleshoot basic equipment and processing issues and notify Maintenance or Supervision when major repairs are needed.
• Complete accurate, legible, and timely production reports and documentation.
• Record machine downtime and report equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Record and post materials used during the assigned shift.
• Accurately weigh and document waste for disposal.
• Use computer systems to document finished and semi-finished products as needed.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, food safety, allergen, and food defense policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and keep machinery clean.
• Work closely with Supervisors and Maintenance to keep equipment operating properly.
• Remain at the assigned workstation until properly relieved; notify a supervisor before leaving the workstation.
• Prevent unauthorized or untrained employees from operating assigned equipment.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and supervisors.
• Report food safety concerns, contamination, suspicious activity, unsafe work practices, or injuries immediately.
• Properly use all required PPE and safety devices.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of related work experience and/or training.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately complete documentation.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures.

• Previous experience in the food manufacturing or food production industry.
• Previous machine operating or manufacturing experience.

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours or more during a shift.
• Regularly climb, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work around moving conveyor systems.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of a production environment, with reasonable accommodations available where applicable.
