Clinical Nutrition Manager - Hospital | Location: Phoenix, AZ 85008

Compensation: $85,000+ annually DOE + 5% bonus potential | Full-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday

 

Job Summary

The Clinical Nutrition Manager is responsible for leading clinical nutrition services through effective staff management, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, operational oversight, and strategic planning. The position ensures delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered nutrition care while advancing organizational quality, patient experience, and financial objectives.

 

What You'll Do

  • Recruit, orient, develop, supervise, and evaluate Registered Dietitians (RDNs) and clinical nutrition staff.
  • Manage staffing plans, schedules, productivity, and workload distribution.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development, certification, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality nutrition care through assessment, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Establish and maintain standards for nutrition care documentation and evidence-based practice.
  • Oversee nutrition support services and management of specialty populations, including malnutrition, critical care, diabetes, renal disease, wound care, oncology, behavioral health, and pediatrics.
  • Develop patient prioritization standards based on nutrition risk and acuity.
  • Monitor key clinical nutrition quality indicators and operational metrics.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes, documentation compliance, and service efficiency.
  • Utilize data and analytics to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of nutrition services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees, clinical pathways, and organizational initiatives.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes, documentation compliance, and service efficiency.
  • Utilize data and analytics to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of nutrition services.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and resources.
  • Monitor labor, staffing, supplements, formulas, and operational expenses.
  • Identify opportunities for cost containment, standardization, and operational efficiency without compromising quality of care.
  • Establish annual goals and strategic priorities for clinical nutrition services.
  • Support growth and expansion of nutrition programs, including outpatient, telehealth, wellness, and community-based services.
  • Advocate for resources and initiatives that enhance the visibility and impact of nutrition services.
  • Other duties as directed. 

 

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with current registration and state licensure, if applicable.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical or related experience, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% and participate in patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Must pass background check, drug screening, and meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements (or have approved exemption).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to interpret regulations and present information clearly.
  • Proficient in basic math and able to apply concepts like ratios and percentages to practical situations.
  • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card required
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout clinical and foodservice environments. Must be able to use a computer for extended periods, communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members, and accurately review clinical documentation and nutrition data.
