Energy Delivery Specialist

Work Schedule

Daytime Shift

Normal hours of operation will range from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are subject to change.
Overtime and on-call availability may be required based on business conditions.

Location: La Moille or Mendota IL

Brief Summary of Job

The Energy Delivery Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of propane, refined fuels, lubricants, and other energy products to agricultural, commercial, and residential customers throughout the cooperative’s service territory.

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport and deliver propane, refined fuels, lubricants, and other energy products to agricultural, commercial, and residential customers throughout the cooperative’s service territory.
Operate delivery trucks, pumps, meters, valves, hoses, and related equipment to safely load and transfer energy products.
Perform required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment.
Verify product type, quantity, and delivery location prior to making deliveries.
Complete delivery tickets, customer order tickets, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service while representing Northern Partners Cooperative.
Assist with the installation, setup, and servicing of tanks, pumps, meters, hoses, and related equipment as directed.
Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and safe operating condition of assigned vehicles, equipment, facilities, and work areas.
Perform basic preventative maintenance and report equipment, facility, leak, or safety concerns to management.
Follow all applicable OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, IDOT, and cooperative safety requirements and procedures.
Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow hazardous material handling and spill prevention procedures.
Assist other Energy Department employees and other cooperative departments with operational needs as business conditions warrant.
Perform additional responsibilities based on daily operational needs, customer demand, weather, and seasonal workload.

Qualities / Skills Needed

Valid driver’s license.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements REQUIRED.
DOT Medical Certification required and must be maintained.
CTEP certification for propane delivery and cylinder filling required or must be obtained within the required timeframe.
Prior energy delivery, fuel transportation, commercial driving, or related experience is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates.
Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Must be reliable and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow directions and use logical thought processes to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.
Ability to safely operate commercial delivery vehicles and related pumping, metering, and dispensing equipment.
Ability to accurately complete delivery tickets, customer records, and other required documentation.
Strong customer service and communication skills when interacting with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and/or alternate shifts as needed and participate in an on-call rotation as business conditions warrant.
Ability to adapt to changing seasonal workloads, weather conditions, and customer demands.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This position requires strenuous physical activity and may involve demanding outdoor and industrial working conditions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to occasionally lift 75 pounds or more with assistance or mechanical aids.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and work for extended periods.
Ability to safely climb ladders, steps, trucks, and equipment to access tanks, machinery, or elevated platforms.
Ability to handle hoses, valves, meters, tools, and other delivery equipment.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, windy, and humid conditions.
Working conditions may include exposure to fuel products, propane, lubricants, dust, fumes, chemicals, noise, moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and uneven or slippery surfaces.
Appropriate safety measures and personal protective equipment must be used at all times.
Travel between cooperative facilities and customer locations may be required, including travel on rural and unpaved roads.
