Job Description
Special Education Teacher – Cross Categorical (SPED Cross Cat)
Location: Sterling, VA 20164
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 41 Weeks
Shift: Day | 7:05 AM–2:35 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 5 Days/Week
Local Candidates: Accepted – Must live within 50 miles
Traveler Candidates: Not Accepted
Pay Rate: $35–$40/hr, based on experience
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
Active Virginia Special Education teaching license
Cross Categorical endorsement required
Previous Special Education teaching experience
Experience developing and implementing IEPs and BIPs
Strong classroom management and instructional skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Must reside within 50 miles of the facility
Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs
Develop and implement individualized IEPs
Create appropriate lesson plans, accommodations, and modifications
Monitor academic, behavioral, and functional progress
Maintain accurate student records and documentation
Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, parents, and administrators
Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom
Follow school policies and Virginia special education requirements
