Software Developer – Manufacturing Systems

Pivotal Systems is looking for a Software Developer to join our manufacturing engineering team in Fremont, CA. This role will own the software that runs our manufacturing floor — building and maintaining the systems that keep production running, while also driving continuous improvement and quality initiatives around test data integrity. You'll work cross-functionally with manufacturing, test engineering, and quality teams to ensure our software infrastructure scales with production needs and supports rigorous data validation standards across our worldwide manufacturing sites. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing execution software used across production and test operations
  
• Design and implement software enhancements that support scaling of manufacturing throughput and reliability
  
• Drive Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing software tools, workflows, and automation
  
• Develop and maintain quality systems for test data validation and verification, ensuring data integrity across the manufacturing process
  
• Deploy manufacturing software to worldwide production locations, ensuring all sites adhere to copy-exact principles for consistent processes, configurations, and outcomes
  
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, and quality engineering teams to identify software gaps and implement solutions
  
• Debug production software issues in real time, minimizing downtime on the manufacturing floor
  
• Build tools and dashboards to support data traceability, statistical process control, and yield analysis
  
• Document software architecture, processes, and validation procedures to support audits and quality certifications
  
• Participate in root cause analysis for manufacturing and test data anomalies, implementing corrective actions in software
  

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  
• 3+ years of experience developing software for manufacturing, test, or industrial environments
  
• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, C++, or similar languages
  
• Experience with database design and management (SQL) for manufacturing or test data systems
  
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or equivalent production software platforms
  
• Understanding of data validation, verification, and quality assurance methodologies
  
• Experience working in a semiconductor, capital equipment, or high-volume manufacturing environment
  
• Experience deploying and supporting software across multiple manufacturing sites, ideally in a copy-exact or standardized-process environment
  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies
  
• Familiarity with test equipment integration and automated test data pipelines
  
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) tools and yield/quality analytics
  
• Exposure to cleanroom or capital equipment manufacturing environments
  
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems
  
• Experience supporting global manufacturing operations across multiple time zones and regions
