Radiology Technologist Position Summary

The Radiology Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, explaining procedures, and responding to patient inquiries. This role involves performing diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Experience: One year of experience performing radiological procedures in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety hazards, including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues and perform simple adjustments.
• License/Certification/Registration: Registered with the ARRT in Radiology; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, renewed every two years.

Essential Functions

• Perform patient care and technical duties in an accurate and timely manner, providing a pleasant experience for each patient.
• Review requests and evaluate orders for appropriate exams and diagnoses.
• Verify patient identifiers: Name and Date of Birth.
• Explain procedures clearly to ensure patient understanding.
• Coordinate with appropriate personnel for scheduling and orders.
• Prepare and position patients for examinations, determining and utilizing proper techniques for imaging.
• Operate CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms safely and efficiently.
• Perform image transfer to PACS and manage equipment start-up and shut-down processes.
• Assist Radiologists and/or Fluoro Technicians during examinations and perform procedures in sterile conditions as required.
• Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media, documenting any reactions appropriately.
• Document patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, and other necessary information in PACS.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area while demonstrating appropriate radiation safety practices.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and others encountered.
• Assist with clerical duties and office functions as required.
• Monitor workflow processes and comply with quality assurance duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions

• Perform related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Shift Information

Day shift on weekdays with evening shifts every third weekend.

Not required.
