We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Builder team, which owns how Regal connects to our customers' systems and how quickly we can launch voice agents for them. The team builds and maintains our integrations (traditional SaaS and newer MCP servers), Journeys (our workflow automation product), Unified Profile Systems and the tooling our Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team uses to ship customer deployments.

The core challenge is balancing two timelines. Customers need to be unblocked this week, and the platform needs to get to a place where they don't hit the same blocker next quarter.

This is a small, high-leverage team (3-5 engineers). You'll work in Python day-to-day and build on AWS. You'll report to the Director of Engineering, Build + Observe/Eval.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and grow a team of 3–5 engineers. Set clear expectations, support career development, and hold a high hiring bar.
  • Own the Builder team's roadmap, balancing near-term customer unblocks against longer-term platform investments, and make those tradeoffs visible to stakeholders.
  • Stay hands-on: expect roughly 50% of your time on technical work such as code reviews, design reviews, debugging production issues, and shipping code when the team needs it.
  • Partner with Product, FDE, and go-to-market teams to translate customer requests into product capabilities that scale across customers.
  • Remove blockers for your team, whether that means adjusting processes, pairing on a hard debugging session, or resolving cross-functional friction.
  • Be actively involved in hiring: sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN:
  • Journeys: Regal's workflow automation product, used by every customer. You'll own its roadmap, reliability, and evolution as customer use cases get more complex.
  • Integrations: The connections between Regal and our customers' systems, from traditional SaaS applications to newer MCP-server integrations. They need to be reliable, observable, and built to scale with data volume.
  • FDE tooling: Internal tools that help our Forward Deployed Engineering team configure, launch, and iterate on voice agents faster.
  • Platform leverage: Turning recurring one-off customer requests into reusable product capabilities, so each new deployment takes less custom work than the last.
ABOUT YOU:
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record as a Senior IC.
  • 1-3 years of experience managing a team
  • Hands-on experience with Python and Typescript, you can still write and debug code at a senior level, even if you now do it less often
  • Experience building and owning third-party integrations at high data volume, including failure handling, retries, rate limits, and changing external APIs
  • System design credibility that earns trust with senior ICs and lets you make sound architectural calls across services, data flows, and integrations
  • Experience leading a team through shifting priorities or scope. You help the team take on new kinds of problems rather than waiting for a stable spec
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and helping them grow, plus strong written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience with AWS (e.g., Lambda, SQS, Kinesis), event-driven or streaming systems, and Kubernetes-based deployments
  • Experience building workflow automation tools or orchestration products
  • Experience building on or with MCP servers, agent tool-calling, or LLM-based integrations
  • Experience leading teams that make effective use of AI coding agents, with consistent and efficient workflows
  • Background in voice, telephony, or contact-center software
  • Prior startup experience at the Series B–D stage
BENEFITS/PERKS
  • We care about your health!
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision plans - 80% covered by the company
  • Flexible PTO & 11 paid holidays/year
  • We care about future you!
  • 401k Plan
  • Paid parental leave
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • We care about connection!
  • In-office breakfast and snacks daily
  • Happy hours, team outings, & annual off-sites
  • Complete laptop workstation
  • & more to come!
