Benefit Specialist I Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate and support managed care and value-based program activities, including enrollment, authorizations, payer updates, and compliance reviews. 

• Monitor resident census, payer assignments, and benefit utilization to ensure accurate and timely updates in internal systems. 

• Manage documentation processes such as authorizations, concurrent requests, appeals, and regulatory notifications, ensuring compliance with payer requirements. 

• Collaborate with facility staff, therapy teams, billing/AR, and external partners to maintain accurate records and resolve issues related to coverage, eligibility, or payments. 

• Participate in meetings, trainings, and outreach activities as needed to support program operations. 

• Support the evaluation and implementation of new programs or processes, adapting responsibilities as organizational needs evolve. 

• Perform all other duties, as assigned. 

Benefit Specialist I Skills and Abilities:

• Has the ability to express ideas effectively through verbal and/or written communication 

• Develops and maintains effective relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and residents in the handling of job duties. 

• Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. 

• Possesses the ability to deal tactfully with co-workers, residents, family members, agencies and the general public. 

• Acts as a mentor and example to all within the facility. 

Benefit Specialist I Education and Experience: 

• High school degree or equivalent, required.  

• Previous expereince in Skilled Nursing, preferred 

Physical Requirements:  

• Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.  

• Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.  

• Meet all health requirements as needed.
