Outreach Specialist- Remote- (Based in NJ)

We are seeking a relationship-driven, highly organized Energy Efficiency Outreach Specialist to support a commercial and industrial energy-efficiency program. In this remote role, you’ll work with businesses, contractors, trade allies, building owners, facility teams, and other industry partners to identify energy-saving opportunities and move projects from initial interest through completion.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys customer outreach, consultative sales, project coordination, and sustainability-focused work. You’ll help businesses reduce energy use, improve building performance, and access incentives for qualifying upgrades.

What You’ll Do

• Build relationships with customers, contractors, trade allies, and other market partners.
• Conduct outreach by phone, email, and virtual meetings to develop new project opportunities.
• Educate customers and partners on program offerings, requirements, incentives, and energy-saving solutions.
• Guide commercial and industrial customers through project submission, approval, and closeout.
• Manage leads and active projects using CRM systems, spreadsheets, and program databases.
• Review applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with Project Coordinators, Energy Engineers, and Program Managers to resolve issues and keep projects moving.
• Deliver virtual presentations, trainings, and outreach activities.
• Represent the program at customer meetings, industry events, and trade-partner activities as needed.
• Track project activity, customer interactions, energy savings, and program results.
• Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and program operations.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in energy efficiency, utility programs, sustainability, energy services, technical sales, customer outreach, project development, or a related field.
• Familiarity with building systems such as lighting, HVAC, controls, and/or hot-water equipment.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple leads, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Self-directed and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
