Machine Installation Technician

Direct Hire | Approximately 50% Travel | Domestic & International | Per Diem Provided

Our client is seeking a Machine Installation Technician to install, commission, and validate large custom industrial machinery at customer manufacturing sites. This is a hands-on field position combining mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, PLC diagnostics, equipment startup, validation, and customer support.

Candidates may bring a stronger background in either mechanical machine installation or controls and equipment validation, but should be comfortable troubleshooting complex industrial equipment in the field.

Travel: Approximately 50% domestic and international travel is required. Candidates will typically be away from home for no more than two weeks at a time, with per diem provided while traveling.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and commission large custom machinery at customer manufacturing facilities.
• Perform mechanical and electrical equipment setup, installation, and integration.
• Support machine validation and acceptance testing before shipment and following installation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC-related issues during startup and commissioning.
• Diagnose equipment problems in the field and partner with internal technical teams to implement solutions.
• Verify machinery operates according to project specifications and customer requirements.
• Work directly with customer operators, maintenance personnel, and technical teams throughout installation and startup.
• Train customers on equipment operation, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and related documentation.
• Document installation activities, validation results, testing, and outstanding technical issues.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Installation, and customer teams to keep projects on schedule.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, installation processes, and future machine designs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience installing machinery or automated equipment at customer sites.
• Hands-on experience working with large custom industrial machinery.
• Strong working knowledge of industrial mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLCs and diagnose controls-related equipment issues.
• Strong field troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Comfortable working directly with customers during installation, commissioning, and equipment handoff.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% domestically and internationally.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
