Civil Engineer

POSITION: Civil Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineering Department Manager 

JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform engineering functions for Easton Utilities’ projects including planning, design and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have construction experience preferably in all utility departments. Must have project administration skills including public relations, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read and understand plans and specifications. Must have the physical capabilities to be actively involved in construction projects. Four-year college degree from an accredited Engineering college. EIT required. Must have PE within 5 years of hire. Valid driver’s license required. Full time exempt position.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Undertake technical and feasibility studies including site investigations.
2. Use a range of computer packages for developing detailed designs.
3. Undertake complex and repetitive calculations.
4. Act as liaison with clients and a variety of professionals including architects and subcontractors.
5. Compile job specs and supervising tendering procedures.
6. Resolve design and development problems.
7. Manage budgets and project resources.
8. Schedule material and equipment purchases and deliveries.
9. Make sure the project complies with legal requirements.
10. Assess the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
11. Ensure projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time.
12. Act as company liaison with the Town of Easton Public Works and Engineering.
13. Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job.
