Responsibilities
Performs Electroencephalograms (EEGs), ambulatory EEGs, Nerve Conduction Velocity testing, Long-Term Monitoring (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) and, as authorized, neurological Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM). Records electrical activity of the patient's brain to study epilepsy, convulsive disorders and localizing lesions in the cerebrum. Assists Neurologist in maintaining Neurodiagnostic Laboratory and identifying abnormal neurological disorders. Promotes professional and respectful interactions with patients and/or families.
Qualifications
Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Associate's Degree preferred
• Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (END) program preferred
Experience
• 1 year of EEG Tech experience required
Licenses and Certifications
• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required and
• One of the following is required
o REEGT - Registered Electroencephalograph Tech
o REPT - Registered Evoked Potential Technologist
o CNIM - Certified in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring
