What you’ll do

• Operate an overhead crane to safely stage and position parts.
• Set welding parameters (leads, current, feed, shielding gas) for optimal GMAW performance.
• Cut, form, and prep metal components using hand tools, torches, and welding equipment.
• Weld in all positions: flat, vertical, and overhead.
• Measure accurately and interpret results using gauges, tape measures, and other devices.
• Fit, assemble, and weld sheet and structural metal into subassemblies and finished products.
• Align and secure material to ensure proper fit-up prior to welding.
• Cross-train and flex to multiple production areas based on demand.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and read/interpret engineering drawings and prints.
• Meet quality standards with strong attention to detail and workmanship.
• Maintain a safe, organized workstation and follow all procedures and regulations.
• Work effectively both independently and within a team; take on other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Background in sheet metal fabrication, including punching, shearing, cutting, forming, and assembly.

Skills & Certifications

• Proficient in MIG (GMAW) welding processes.
• Capable of welding light and heavy gauge sheet metal; materials include carbon black steel and stainless steel.
• Formal welding training and certification.
• Comfortable with measuring instruments, common hand tools, and pneumatic impact wrenches.
• Read, write, and communicate instructions; draft simple correspondence; present information one-on-one or to small groups.
• Solid math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands for fine manipulation, and reach with arms.
• Occasionally climb/balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• Routinely lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Close vision required for inspection and measurement.

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Hearing protection (earplugs) is required due to noise levels.
